All-New Toyota Prius 2024 Wins Another Award

The newly redesigned Toyota Prius and Prius Prime hybrid cars have been named the 2024 North American Car of the Year.

The Prius and Prius Prime beat out two other finalists – the Honda Accord and Hyundai Ioniq 6 – to win the award, which is determined by a jury of independent automotive journalists from the United States and Canada. This marks the second time the Prius has won the award, after first earning the honor in 2004 for the second-generation model.

According to the jurors, the new Prius stood out for its dramatic new styling as well as its industry-leading fuel efficiency. The plug-in Prius Prime model also impressed with its ability to drive over 40 miles on electricity alone before needing to utilize its gas engine.

“The Toyota Prius and Prius Prime are not just handsomely styled hatchbacks, they represent the future of the automobile by blending traditional internal combustion with electric drivetrains,” said veteran automotive journalist Matt DeLorenzo.

The win adds to over 17 other awards the new Prius models have earned from the industry since their unveiling last year. Toyota representatives proudly accepted the trophy at the ceremony, emphasizing the Prius’ standing as an innovative leader in efficient and environmentally-friendly transportation for nearly 25 years now.

Our Thoughts

Stunning new looks, pricing starts around an attainable $27,000 – I like it a lot. Along with the modern exterior styling, Toyota has upgraded the interior as well, with high-quality, soft-touch materials and the latest technology features.
