Malaysia Airlines Teams Up with BMW to Provide i7 EV Premium Travel Experience

Malaysia Airlines is introducing an exclusive private terminal transfer service for premium passengers traveling between KLIA Terminal 1 buildings. Starting February 1, 2024, Enrich Platinum, Business Suite and Business Class flyers will be chauffeured in the all-electric BMW i7, thanks to a collaboration with BMW Group Malaysia through dealer Ingress Auto.

The 24-hour sustainable service provides a luxurious option in addition to airport buses, with solo vehicles ensuring personalized experiences. CEO Ahmad Luqman Mohd Azmi said this aims to enhance top-tier customer journeys with premium comfort. Managing Director of Ingress Auto Rabian Ab Rahman added that the innovative BMW i7 aligns with delivering electric driving pleasure in Malaysia.

Our Thoughts

The move aligns with Malaysia’s push to grow its electric vehicle industry, as the government aims to increase EV adoption. This comes on the heels of recent news that Chinese electric car giant BYD opted to open a factory in neighboring Indonesia instead.

Malaysia likely hopes to entice other automakers to manufacture domestically by demonstrating strong demand. And what better way than chauffeuring high-profile passengers in the lavish BMW i7?

Fitted with a massive 31-inch 8K theater screen and enveloping Bowers & Wilkins diamond surround sound system, the i7 promises next-level luxury. So government intentions aside, Malaysian travelers flying premium classes will undoubtedly enjoy the ultra-comfortable ride.
