Chery has an all-new SUV with a slightly complicated name. The new plug-in-hybrid (PHEV) Chery Tiggo 7 CSH, which has been introduced by Chery Malaysia, is said to have a combined range of up to 1,200 kilometres and a price tag of RM129,800 on the road.
The primary distinction between this new Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) powertrain and the current Tiggo 7 series in Malaysia is the 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which produces 143 horsepower and 215 Nm. This is coupled with a dedicated hybrid gearbox that houses an electric motor generating 204hp and 310 Nm for total power of 279hp and 365 Nm.
The Tiggo 7 has a combined range of 1,200 km (NEDC) and a pure EV range of 90 km thanks to its 18.3 kWh lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery. A 30-80% recharge may be achieved in 19 minutes thanks to its compatibility for AC charging at 6.6 kW and DC charging at 40 kW.
The SUV’s exterior is based on the facelift that was unveiled to the world late last year and is notable for having a new front bumper design and headlights that now incorporate daytime running lights.
The tail light clusters at the back have a new design that resembles the Tiggo Cross in terms of light signature. Along with the design modifications, the huge “plug-in hybrid” insignia on the tailgate, the 18-inch alloy wheels, and the installation of a charging outlet on the right-rear panel are the main features that set the Tiggo 7 apart from the standard gasoline-powered model.
The Chery Tiggo 7 CSH is equipped with LED automatic headlights, front and rear LED fog lights, active cornering lights, LED sequential turn indicators, automatic rain-sensing windshield wipers, panoramic sunroof with powered sunshade, hands-free powered tailgate, roof rails and 18-inch alloy wheels.
The interior of the Tiggo 7 PHEV CSH largely mirrors the petrol-powered Tiggo 7, featuring the same dashboard layout with dual 12.3-inch integrated displays and centre console. Boot space on the new PHEV variant is rated at 475 litres and can be expanded to 1,386 litres with the rear-seats folded.
