A fresh 2024 upgrade for the Haval H6 has been revealed by GWM ahead of its official debut at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show. The H6 is billed as a “new generation” model in China, but based on its specs, it appears to be more of a (second) mid-cycle facelift update albeit a fairly big one.
And the bets are on that this facelifted Haval H6 is the version we will see debut here, making Malaysia one of the first global markets to do so, similar to when the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro was launched here. The popular SUV model is already confirmed for launch in Malaysia around the second quarter of 2024.
The redesigned H6 has a radically revised look, highlighted by a large new grille on the front fascia and stylish, vertically oriented “starlight waterfall” daytime running lights.
The company claims that the two separate light clusters on the tail end are illuminated by 124 unique LED elements. The ‘HAVAL’ lettering has been resized in combination with the rest of the bodywork, which has also undergone a thorough chrome deletion and cleaner bumpers.
The H6 gets revised interior
The new H6 has also received a pretty significant update on the inside, most notably the reworked centre console that has now swapped the previous bridge-like element for a cleaner appearance – especially in the cream-white colour scheme as seen in the attached photo—although the moulded plastic look of the centre console doesn’t scream ‘premium’ in any way.
As part of the update, the rotary gear selector dial from the pre-facelift model is now replaced by a stalk behind the steering wheel, and any semblance of physical buttons on the dashboard have now been removed, with their functionalities replaced by the now-larger infotainment display in the name of modernity and minimalism.
There will be two petrol powertrain options for the new Haval H6, both of which are carryovers from the pre-facelift model when it launches in China. Nevertheless, they have both been updated with greater power, with the 2.0T version upgraded from 211 hp to 231 hp, while the 1.5-litre turbocharged inline-four now produces 177 hp. A seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox is mated to both engines.
CARLIST THOUGHTS
With its revised front end and interior, this Naval H6 looks particularly desirable and should make a splash when it lands in Malaysia later this year. We anticipate hearing more about the hybrid and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) powertrains soon, perhaps with comparable performance improvements.
