The all-new, eagerly awaited sixth-generation Honda CR-V has finally debuted in Malaysia. The all-new CR-V is currently available in three different grades, with pricing starting at RM159,900 on the road.
The first three versions in Malaysia to land in Malaysia will be the 1.5S for RM159,900, the 1.5E for RM169,900 and the flagship 1.5V AWD starting at RM181,900. The hybrid 2.0L e:HEV variant, however, will arrive at Honda dealerships at a later date.
LED headlights and taillights are standard on the Malaysian-specified CR-V while larger 18-inch alloys fitted to the 1.5 E and V AWD variants replace the 17-inch wheels on the entry-level 1.5 S variant. As is often the case with new models, Honda has added a new colour choice called Canyon River Blue Metallic.
In terms of propulsion, Honda has fitted the same 1.5-litre VTEC turbo engine as that from the previous generation CR-V, mated to a CVT gearbox. This will power the 1.5 S, E, and V AWD models in Malaysia.
By contrast, the upcoming e:HEV RS hybrid is powered by the company’s Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive (i-MMD) mild hybrid system featuring a 2.0-litre Atkinson-cycle, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated engine.
Aside from the entry-level 1.5 S, all variants of the Malaysian-spec CR-V get leather seats. The 1.5 S variant also incorporates a 7-inch TFT instrument display alongside a 7-inch infotainment head unit as standard. The higher variants get the larger 9-inch infotainment head unit instead, while standard safety features include Honda LaneWatch, Driver Attention Monitor, and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
In terms of safety features the CR-V 1.5 S is equipped with the Honda Sensing ADAS suite as standard and employs Collision Mitigation Braking System, Lane Keeping Assist, Road Departure Mitigation System with Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow (ACC with LSF), Lead Car Departure Notification System.

As with everywhere else that the new CR-V has been launched, we can expect the new Honda SUV’s good looks, appealing driving dynamics, smart interior, and reasonable price tag to draw customers in and excel in sales. We are sure that many potential buyers are hanging out for the hybrid version which should join the already strong lineup late next year.
