Mercedes-Benz Malaysia just welcomed its flagship SUV— the new Mercedes-Maybach EQS680 SUV which has just landed in showrooms. There is only one version of this high-end SUV available, and it’s priced at RM1,088,888. Using the Mercedes-Benz car configurator online, customers can customize the exterior and interior of this opulent SUV; the final cost will depend on the choices selected.

Although the EQS 680 SUV and the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV may look the same at first, they differ in a few key ways. The Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV has a more luxurious and regal appearance thanks to its exclusive Maybach design cues and elements, like the alloy wheels, tail lamps, and front grille.

There are two versions of the EQS680 SUV: the Mercedes-Maybach EQS Night Series and the EQS680 SUV. A dark chrome-plated Maybach insignia on the air intakes, and special 21-inch seven-spoke alloy wheels are some of the Night Series’ unique features.

Standard exterior equipment of the EQS680 SUV includes Mercedes-Maybach radiator grille with lettering and upright star, 21-inch Maybach wheels, Digital Light LED headlights, LED rear lights, continuous reflector strip at front, and aluminium-look and illuminated running boards with rubber studs.

The Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV has a 2+2 interior arrangement. The business offers infotainment through its MBUX Hyperscreen. This comprises a single pane of glass that extends from door to door and has three separate displays—a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 17.7-inch central display, and a 12.3-inch front passenger display. In addition to a dedicated refrigerator that can be accessed by opening the centre armrest, rear passengers also get their own displays positioned on the back of the front seat headrests.

As you might expect, the cabin experience is rather luxurious and includes a Burmester® high-end 4D surround sound system, MBUX high-end rear seat entertainment, Maybach designed multi-function steering wheel wrapped in Nappa leather or wood with heating, executive seats and first-class rear compartments, automatic closing doors at the front and rear, rear folding tables, high-pile floor mats, heated and ventilated driver and front passenger seat, electric sunblinds in rear doors, wireless phone charge for rear passengers, folding rear tables, and a panoramic sliding sunroof.

The EQS SUV is propelled by two electric motors on each axle. This configuration generates 950 Nm and 652 horsepower, allowing the SUV to jump from 0-100 km/h in 4.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 210 km/h. A 125 kWh lithium-ion battery with 118 kWh useable capacity powers the electric motors, giving it a 600 km WLTP range.

Both 200 kW DC charging and 22 kW AC charging are supported. The latter charges from 10% to 80% in about thirty-one minutes. For added driving comfort, the EQS680 SUV comes standard with an AIRMATIC air suspension with continuously adjustable damping ADS+. Additionally, there is rear-wheel steering, which can shorten the turning radius by nearly two meters with a steering angle of up to ten degrees.

CARLIST THOUGHTS

Apart from the sleek, luxurious exterior that is differentiated from the standard EQS, and its supremely appointed interior packaging, the EQS680 is a first-class machine on wheels. Whether it would deliver 600km of range is debatable (more like 500 at best), but that powertrain and its comfort levels are undoubtedly second to none, except dare we say the Toyota Century SUV.
