Are you looking for a luxury MPV with a little more fizzle than the Toyota Alphard or Vellfire? If so, then crikey, does XPeng have some news! Because the Chinese brand has just launched the new electric XPeng X9 in Malaysia for RM270,708.
The base Standard Range 2WD Pro model costs RM270,708 while the Long Range 2WD Pro model costs RM288,708, and the flagship Long Range 2WD Pro Plus model boasts a sticker price of RM300,708.
In terms of appearance, the new X9 immediately out-dresses all other luxury MPVs in its class. The X9 looks like something from the future, or dare we say—from science fiction. According to the carmaker, each panel is sculpted to look like part of a vehicle cruising on the surface of Mars, all while keeping its occupants safe and comfortable.

Zero gravity aviation chairs fitted
The luxurious ride starts in the interior with zero-gravity aviation chairs boasting several adjustment settings that can be operated from the second-row armrests.
Additionally, a 21-inch screen that extends from the cabin ceiling is included in the second and third rows. You can therefore choose to watch films on your preferred streaming service or listen to your favourite music on lengthy drives.
With a front-mounted electric motor producing 320 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque, the X9 can has a top speed of 200 km/h and sprints from 0-100 km/h in 7.7 seconds.
In contrast, the Standard Range version boasts a 500 km WLTP-rated range and an 84.5 kWh lithium-ion phosphate (LFP) battery pack. A larger 101.5 kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery pack, with a 590 km WLTP EV range, is offered with both Long Range models.
CARLIST THOUGHTS
Well yes, to be honest, this X9 is a better looker than either of the industry leading Toyota Alphard of Vellfire models. It also offers a gutsy electric powertrain not available with Toyota, so already the X9 takes a fresh lead over the Japanese. It also offers some impressive interior features like the 21-inch screen and special zero-gravity aviation chairs to tempt the discerning buyer.
