Rolls Royce Phantom Series II Launches In Malaysia

Rolls-Royce’s most recent model—the Phantom Series II, has just debuted in Malaysia, taking the place of the 8th generation model that was first shown there in 2017. Pricing starts at RM2,500,000 for the standard-wheelbase (SWB) Phantom Series II and extends up to RM2,900,000 for the extended-wheelbase (EWB) Phantom Extended Series II (without options and taxes).

Why is it so special? For many reasons. In a word — ‘personalization.’ There are 44,000 different colour options available for the Malaysian market to personalise your car. One of the new polished horizontal lines between the daytime running lights (DRLs) above the Pantheon grille is one of the changes introduced into the new Series II over its predecessor.

Additionally, Rolls-Royce modified the Pantheon grille in a modest geometric way that increases the visibility of the Spirit of Ecstasy mascot and the “RR” badge of honour from the front. Intricately cut bezel starlights on the Phantom Series II’s headlights also establish a visual link with the Starlight Headliner within.

The longer Phantom Extended Series II is supported by a 3,772 mm wheelbase, while the SWB Phantom Series II employs a 3,552 mm wheelbase as well as 22-inch polished forged alloy wheels.

In Malaysia, a 6.75-liter twin-turbo V12 engine with 563 hp and 900 Nm of torque powers the Phantom Series II, with drive supplied to the rear wheels via a ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox. As a result, the heavier extended Phantom Series II can reach 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds, compared to the standard Phantom Series II’s 5.3 seconds.

The interior features a slightly thicker steering wheel, which the automaker claims offers a more “connected and immediate point of contact for the owner-driver.” Why? Because Rolls expects owners to drive their cars!

A marginally thicker steering wheel, as seen in the Phantom Series II’s interior, is said by the manufacturer to provide a more “connected and immediate point of contact for the owner-driver.”

OUR THOUGHTS

It goes without saying that this RM2,500,000 saloon is the most luxurious four-door on the planet. From its powerful V12 engine, to its suicide doors to its Starlight Headliner, to its plush ‘cloud-like’ ride quality, the Series II is a Rolls to behold. For those who adore the huge Pantheon grille, well, you will fall in love with the Series II’s front end instantly. If you don’t then you might want to focus more on the unmatched luxury levels and ride quality.
