Mercedes-AMG is blending electrification with high performance in the 2025 E 53 HYBRID sedan. The hybrid packs 577 hp from its AMG-enhanced 3.0-liter turbo inline-six and electric motor. With an electric boost from the RACE START feature, output climbs to 604 hp. It can hit 60 mph in 3.7 seconds and reach an electronically limited top speed of 174 mph. In electric mode, it max out at 87 mph.
A 400-volt, 28.6 kWh battery provides usable energy for an estimated electric range still to be announced. Using a 60 kW DC fast charger, the battery can recharge from 10-80% in about 20 minutes. The hybrid system captures up to 120 kW through regenerative braking. Drivers can select its regenerative braking levels, including one-pedal driving like an electric vehicle. It aims for efficiency with seven AMG drive modes, including pure electric and battery charge-holding settings.
Design enhancements include wider front fenders, AMG-specific front and rear fascias, hybrid badging and an optional AMG infotainment screen. An “Edition 1” model launches with distinct styling. Standard features include AMG performance seats and steering wheel, rear-axle steering and high-performance brakes. Options include 21-inch forged wheels and a handling package.
Carlist Thoughts
The E 53 HYBRID represents an impressive blend of electrification and AMG’s famous performance pedigree. With blistering acceleration and a potent hybrid powertrain, it delivers the thrills expected from Mercedes’ performance division while offering some electric driving capability. However, its likely $90,000+ price tag means this electrified AMG will remain an indulgence reserved for those with very deep pockets.
