Honda Unleashes Powerful Hybrid Civic for 2025 Model Year

Honda has introduced the refreshed 2025 Civic lineup, highlighting the brand’s most powerful non-Type R Civic to date – the new Civic hybrid. Available in both sedan and hatchback versions, the Civic hybrid boasts an anticipated 232 lb-ft of torque and 200 horsepower from its two-motor hybrid system.

The 2025 Civic showcases a more aggressive front fascia, grille, and revised taillights for a sharper look. The model introduces four new exterior colors: Solar Silver Metallic, Urban Gray Pearl, Blue Lagoon Pearl (exclusive to the sedan), and Sand Dune Pearl (exclusive to the hatchback). Hybrid trims feature unique body-colored headlamp garnishes and front lower spoilers.

The new hybrid powertrain, positioned at the top of the Civic lineup, offers quicker acceleration than the previous 1.5L turbo model and achieves an expected EPA combined fuel economy rating nearing 50 mpg. Honda expects hybrid models to account for about 40% of all Civic sales.

The top-tier Sport Touring Hybrid introduces Civic’s first integration of Google built-in, offering seamless connectivity with Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play apps. A complimentary 3-year unlimited data plan is included.

The 11th-generation Civic continues to prioritize safety with Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure and the standard Honda Sensing suite of driver-assistive technologies, including the Collision Mitigation Braking System and Adaptive Cruise Control.

The 2025 Civic sedan will begin arriving at Honda dealerships next month, followed by the hatchback later this summer. With its bold new styling, powerful hybrid option, and advanced technology features, the refreshed 2025 Civic is set to maintain its status as one of America’s most popular compact cars. The Civic has been an incredibly important model for Honda over the decades, with over 12 million sold in the U.S. since 1973.

Carlist Thoughts

This latest redesign seems well-positioned to continue the Civic’s lasting success by offering something for everyone – from efficient hybrid powertrains to cutting-edge connectivity features that will appeal to younger buyers. Honda is clearly aiming to keep the Civic at the top of the compact car segment. We expect pricing to start around $26,000.
