Hyundai’s High-Performance Ioniq 5 NPX1 to Debut in Tokyo

Hyundai Motors will unveil a high-performance version of its Ioniq 5 electric crossover at the upcoming Tokyo Auto Salon on January 12th. Dubbed the “Ioniq 5 NPX1,” this souped-up EV is Hyundai’s first attempt at an electric racing model.

We expect the NPX1 gets a power boost over the standard Ioniq 5. Visual changes over the standard model include an aggressive body kit with rear spoiler, lower stiffer suspensions, and upgraded brakes.

Inside, the NPX1 receives carbon fiber trim, bucket seats, and a sportier steering wheel. Hyundai also tuned the suspension for track performance, don’t expect daily-drive comfort.
