Kia New 379HP EV9 Electric SUV With 300 Mile Range

Kia has started deliveries of the new EV9, its first dedicated three-row electric SUV. The EV9 will offer up to 379 horsepower from its dual motor all-wheel drive system, allowing it to accelerate from 0-60 mph in around 5 seconds.

The EV9 will be available with two battery pack options: a standard 76.1 kWh pack and an extended range 99.8 kWh option. Kia targets 300 miles of range from the larger battery pack.

With support for 800V fast charging, the EV9 can charge from 10% to 80% in under 25 minutes when using compatible high-speed DC fast chargers. This enables long distance road trips with shorter charging stops.

The EV9 features the latest technology like vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, over-the-air software update capability, and an advanced driver assistance system with highway driving assist.

Assembled at its West Point, Georgia factory. Pricing will start at $54,900 for the base RWD model and top out around $63,900 for the AWD flagship.

The 379 hp dual motor EV9 gives drivers a high performance and long range electric SUV option from Kia in late 2023. Its 800V fast charging and available 300 mile battery also make it suitable for road trips. The high performance GT Line will come in the future.

Our Thoughts

With its smooth boxy lines and high-tech interior, Kia has made the new EV9 a gorgeous and modern electric SUV. Shoppers should compare the EV9’s spacious 3 rows of seating to both the Tesla Model Y and even the larger Model X to decide if they require that extra passenger capacity. However, the 300 mile range and 800V fast charging help make the EV9 a compelling alternative for eco-conscious families.
