Lucid Motors Unveils New Gravity Electric SUV: Coming In 2024

Electric vehicle maker Lucid Motors has announced its new Gravity SUV, set to launch in late 2024. The Gravity represents Lucid’s expansion into the rapidly growing electric SUV market and promises to deliver unmatched range, luxury and performance.

The Gravity SUV will utilize an all-new platform designed specifically for an electric SUV. Integrated with Lucid’s next-generation proprietary electric powertrain technology, the company estimates the Gravity will achieve over 440 miles of range from a battery pack approximately half the size of competitors’.

Lucid states the Gravity will accelerate from 0-60 mph in under 3.5 seconds thanks to its power-dense electric motors while still providing utility with over 1,500 pounds of payload capacity and 6,000 pounds of towing capacity. An enhanced air suspension system called Zero Gravity will adapt to different terrains, ensuring a smooth ride on- and off-road.

According to Lucid CEO and CTO Peter Rawlinson, “The Gravity SUV represents a significant leap forward for Lucid’s world-leading technology and design. Customers will find an unprecedented combination of space and maneuverability, luxury and versatility, all seamlessly integrated into one remarkable vehicle.”

The Gravity’s interior features Lucid’s Clearview Cockpit with a curved 34-inch OLED display and Pilot Panel touch controls. New software features and over-the-air updates will provide continual improvements over time. Lucid claims the SUV will offer a “luxury in-car experience designed for both body and mind,” including wellness features like Lucid Sanctuary and Lucid Spaces.

With a starting price under $80,000, Lucid is aiming for the Gravity to be competitively priced among premium full-size electric SUVs. Rawlinson stated, “With a battery pack about half the size of some competitors’, Gravity is an environmentally friendly, versatile electric vehicle with the spirit of a supercar.”

Our Thoughts

Tesla has long been the king of the high-end EV market, but the Gravity has the potential to dethrone them. The Gravity’s most striking feature is its range, surpassing 400 miles on a single charge. This puts it ahead of the Model X Long Range, which offers a respectable 348 miles. But the Gravity doesn’t stop there. It also boasts a 0-60 mph acceleration time of just 3.5 seconds, making it one of the quickest SUVs on the market, electric or otherwise.

And all of this performance comes in a package that is as luxurious as it is powerful. If Lucid can deliver on its promises, the Gravity could very well be the new king of the high-end EV market.
