Tesla has officially entered the Qatari market, opening reservations for its popular Model 3, Model Y, Model X, and Model S vehicles to start delivery in February 2024. With Qatar being one of the wealthiest countries in the Middle East buoyed by its vast oil and natural gas reserves, Tesla sees a lucrative opportunity to expand its presence in the region.
The most affordable Tesla option in Qatar is the Rear-Wheel Drive Model 3 Highland Version starting at QAR 164,990 ($45,314). For buyers seeking an SUV, the Model Y sports utility vehicle is available from QAR 184,990. At the top end, Tesla’s flagship vehicles command premium pricing—the Model X luxury SUV is offered from QAR 334,990 and the high-performance Model S sedan starts at QAR 314,990.
As a reflection of Qatar’s robust economy and appetite for luxury vehicles, Tesla has set its pricing at a small premium over US markets. Nonetheless, Tesla’s brand cachet, performance, safety ratings and tech-forward features are expected to appeal to affluent consumers in the country. Deliveries are slated to begin 2 months from now in February 2024.
Looking ahead, Tesla’s Cybertruck is poised to be a major hit in the Qatari pickup truck segment upon its eventual launch. With its ultra-modern design and linkage to Tesla’s luxury brand image differentiated from conventional American pickup trucks, the Cybertruck can tap into both luxury and rugged truck buyers when it arrives in this fast-growing EV market.
