Tesla Confirms New High-Performance Model 3 Variant: Everything You Need to Know

Electric vehicle maker Tesla has confirmed that a new high-performance variant of their popular Model 3 sedan is in development. On X earlier today, Tesla’s Head of Investor Relations Martin Viecha stated that the company is working on a new performance-focused version of the Model 3.

While full details are not yet available, the new Model 3 will emphasize driving dynamics and fun-to-drive characteristics over outright speed. We can likely expect upgrades like larger brakes, stiffer suspension tuning, sticky performance tires, and interior trim upgrades.

Rumors point towards things like bolstered front seats and additional interior carbon accents setting this new performance Model 3 apart from the standard versions. As with all Tesla performance models, expect this new variant to feature dual motor all-wheel drive for maximum grip and agility.

Pricing for the unannounced Model 3 performance variant will probably land around $55,000 – slotting it in between the entry-level Model 3 RWD and the larger Model S. Performance should rival internal combustion counterparts like the BMW M3 and Mercedes-AMG C63. If rumors are accurate, 0-60 mph acceleration could dip below the magical 3-second mark. Stunning electric performance with a Tesla twist.

Stay tuned to our continuing Model 3 and Tesla coverage as more details emerge on this exciting new performance electric sedan. A Model 3 with even more speed, agility and driver engagement would shake up the internal combustion-dominated sports sedan market. We can’t wait to get behind the wheel of the new Model 3 performance edition when it eventually arrives at Tesla showrooms nationwide.
