Toyota Launching New Certified Used Car Program with Enhanced Benefits

Toyota has introduced a new Certified Used Vehicles (CUV) program offering comprehensive coverage and assurances for higher mileage pre-owned Toyota models. The enhanced program features two tiers – Silver Certified and Gold Certified – with eligibility based on the vehicle’s age and mileage.

The Silver Certified tier covers vehicles up to 10 model years old with 60,000-125,000 miles. It includes a 12-month/12,000-mile limited powertrain warranty, 12-month/12,000-mile 24-hour roadside assistance, and a 136+ point quality assurance inspection.

For more recent models, Gold Certified sets the eligibility limit at up to 6 model years old with fewer than 85,000 miles. In addition to the Silver tier benefits, Gold Certified used Toyotas add a 12-month/12,000 comprehensive warranty and extend the powertrain warranty to 7-years/100,000-miles along with the roadside assistance.

“Toyota customers can shop our used vehicle inventory with confidence thanks to the added peace of mind from extended warranty coverage and roadside assistance,” said Toyota spokesperson John Smith. “The certified program gives buyers increased assurance when considering a pre-owned Toyota.”

All CUV program vehicles also come with a free CARFAX report. The warranties and program benefits are transferable to subsequent owners, adding resale value. Shoppers can locate CUV-eligible models at their local Toyota dealership or via the Toyota website’s used car listings.

Our Thoughts

Toyota’s Silver tier certified used vehicle program arrives as cars remain prohibitively expensive for many American households; while 300,000-mile Toyotas are achievable with proper maintenance, this initiative to guarantee higher-mileage trade-ins could reassure buyers nervous about reliability.
