While not as long ranged as some newer competitors, the base LEAF S model offers a 40kWh battery with EPA-estimated range of 149 miles. For just $28,140, this represents an affordable option for buyers looking to go electric on a budget.

The higher range LEAF SV PLUS model starts at $36,190 and utilizes a 62kWh battery good for 212 miles. No federal tax incentives are available right now for US buyers.

The base 2024 Nissan LEAF S presents the best affordable electric vehicle option now. While the LEAF SV Plus offers more range and features for $8,000 more, the $28,140 LEAF S provides sufficient range for most daily needs. Once you start approaching the $36,000 price point of the SV Plus, other EVs like the Tesla Model Y RWD become much better buy after federal tax incentives .
