2025 Mini Cooper S Street Debut in New York City

On the eve of the 2024 New York International Auto Show, MINI USA made the North American debut of the next-generation 2025 MINI Cooper S 2-door in an unconventional way – driving it through the streets of New York City.

The all-new MINI Cooper S showcased its bold redesign as it cruised NYC, providing a first look at the iconic brand’s most significant transformation since the original Mini launched 65 years ago. This kicks off the introduction of a completely new MINI family of vehicles through 2025.

For the US market, the new MINI Cooper S comes exclusively with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 201 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 6.3 seconds. A sport-tuned suspension provides the classic MINI go-kart handling feel.

Exterior styling maintains the classic MINI silhouette with a refreshed, minimalist design. Horizontal LED daytime running lights highlight the new look. Twelve ultrasonic sensors aid driver assistance systems.

The interior focuses on sustainable materials and minimalist design. Technical highlights include the MINI Operating System 9 and an industry-first high-res OLED touchscreen display. Customizable MINI Experience Modes use graphics projected onto the dash to alter the cabin’s look and feel through visual/ambient lighting and sound designs.

US buyers can choose from Classic and Favoured trim styles with multiple paint colors, roof colors, interior surfaces and wheel designs from 17-18 inches. An exclusive multi-tone Spray-Tech roof option gradually fades between three colors and will be available starting July production. The 2025 MINI Cooper S 2-door hits dealerships in May with a $32,200 base MSRP after launching production this month.

Carlist Thoughts

Every sighting of a Mini evokes memories of “The Italian Job” movie, a classic from two decades ago. Its iconic design captures attention, emphasizing style over sheer performance and monetary worth. The Mini carries a timeless allure, reminiscent of an era when aesthetics trumped practicality.
