China’s Neta V Is Now Cheapest EV In Malaysia

Launched earlier this month, the Chinese-made Neta V is now officially the cheapest electric vehicle in Malaysia. Boasting an on-the-road price of RM99,800 without insurance, a cash voucher worth RM10,000 will be given to the first 100 customers who place an online reservation as part of a special promotion, dropping the cost down to RM89,800!

Distribution of the EVs is the responsibility of Intro Synergy, a wholly owned subsidiary of GoAuto Group that has a contract with Hozon New Energy Auto.

Undercutting the previously most affordable EV in Malaysian—the GWM Ora Funky Cat—by nearly RM40,000, the Neta V Deluxe is now the least expensive EV in our market costing RM99,800. Deliveries will start in the third quarter of this year, according to Intro Synergy and reservations can be made online for RM1,000.

For RM99,800, buyers are getting a lithium-ion battery from CATL with a 38.54 kWh, which will permit range of  380 km according to NEDC standards. So, in the real world, that translates to around 330 kms. The maximum AC charging (Type 2) rate for the Neta V is 6.6 kW, and a complete charge takes eight hours.

Additionally, it has a 100 kW DC fast charging (CCS2) capability that can charge a battery from 30 to 80% capacity in just 30 minutes. The crossover’s vehicle-to-load (V2L) technology, which is capable of delivering up to 3.3 kW, may also be used by users to power accessories and electronic gadgets.

The Neta V has a front-mounted electric motor with 95 ps and 150 Nm of torque. With these modest outputs, the carmaker claims a 0–50 km/h time of 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 120 km/h.

The Neta V’s measurements are 4,070 mm in length, 1,690 mm in width, and 1,540 mm in height, and it has a 2,420 mm-long wheelbase.

The Neta V is only available in one variant at present that employs a 12-inch digital cluster, leatherette seat upholstery, automatic air conditioning with a HEPA N95 air filter, a reverse camera, 16-inch alloy wheels, automatic halogen projector headlamps, and LED headlights and taillights as standard equipment.

A central 14.6-inch touchscreen controls infotainment, while a six-speaker sound system delivers acceptable audio quality. Additionally, users will have the option to mirror the display of their phone onto the sizable, portrait-format screen.

OUR THOUGHTS

The Neta V arrives at an opportune time for the Chinese carmaker, considerably undercutting the GWM electric vehicle by nearly RM40,000 to be recognised as the cheapest EV in Malaysia. And with 380km of range (NEDC) and a top speed of 120 km/h, it will be the perfect entry car for those buyers looking to get into EVs but could not until now because of price.
