New Hyundai Tucson Launched In Malaysia, Open For Bookings

Offered in three variants— 2.0 Lite, 1.6T Plus, and 1.6T Max—bookings for the brand-new 2023 Hyundai Tucson are now being accepted in Malaysia. That means that the all-new Tucson will be fully imported (CBU) from Korea and will soon make its official debut in Malaysia.

Low Yuan Lung, managing director of Hyundai Sime Darby Motors, stated, “The Tucson is Hyundai’s entrant in the important C-SUV segment, and it is a strong one. With distinctive looks, up-to-date technology, and a decidedly upmarket focus, this five-seater is a sophisticated tool for the urban jungle of today and tomorrow.”

The new Tucson was recently spied undisguised with a 1.6 T badge in Malaysia, and now it has been officially confirmed that there will be a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated powertrain offered as well.

While the other two variants combine a turbocharged Smartstream 1.6 TGDi engine that develops 180 hp and 265 Nm of torque with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox (DCT) with push-button gear selection, the 2.0 litre’s Smartstream MPI engine generates 156 hp and 192 Nm and is mated to a six-speed automatic.

Regardless of the variant, the Tucson gets seven airbags, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, a Blind Spot Collision Warning, and Safe Exit Warning. The range-topping 1.6T Max exclusively enjoys eight-way powered and heated/ventilated driver and front passenger seats, a fully digital 10.25-inch instrument panel, a power tailgate, auto wipers, wireless phone charging, and a full Hyundai SmartSense safety suite including Smart Cruise Control.

OUR THOUGHTS

This Hyundai is one of the best-looking and most affordable SUVs in Malaysia. Now open for bookings in the country starting from RM143,888, the all-new Tucson will be offered in Amazon Gray Metallic, Phantom Black Pearl, Creamy White Pearl, Crimson Red Pearl, and Silky Bronze Metallic, with the last two not offered on the 2.0 Lite.
