New Mini Countryman Gets Sneak Preview In Malaysia

Get ready folks because a new Countryman is on the way. BMW Group Malaysia has just revealed that it will have a presence at the Malaysia Autoshow in 2024. And it did this by revealing a teaser image.

The teaser poster for the event features the silhouettes of ten of the cars the carmaker will be introducing (see below). If you look closely, you could see two MINI cars, one of which might be the brand-new Countryman. Does this imply that it will debut at the Autoshow for the Malaysian market?

Making its world premiere in September 2023, the brand-new MINI Countryman comes in five different configurations: two are exclusively electric, while the other three are powered by petrol. The brand’s first model with completely electric all-wheel drive (AWD) is the all-new Countryman, which is also the first MINI manufactured in Germany.

The third-generation Countryman is larger than ever, being 130 mm longer and 60 mm taller than the previous model. Examine the latest Countryman and you’ll see that it has more angles than before, with polygonal patterns decorating the front grille and headlamps.

The single and dual motor configurations power the all-electric MINI Countryman E and SE ALL4 models, respectively. The Countryman E’s single-motor combination generates 204 horsepower and 250 Nm, but the more potent Countryman SE ALL4’s dual-motor setup generates 313 horsepower and 494 Nm.

The MINI Countryman E can go up to 462 km (WLTP) on a single charge thanks to a 66.45 kWh battery pack, while the SE ALL4 variant has a WLTP-rated range of 433 km while using the same battery.

The cockpit employs a circular head unit that utilises the most recent version of MINI Operating System 9 and has a screen that extends to the circle’s borders. Lacking a conventional instrument panel, the new MINI can monitor your speed or other relevant information using the head-up display (HUD).

There are now four specs of the outgoing Countryman available in Malaysia including the “base” MINI Cooper S Countryman cost ing RM260,788, while the performance-focused John Cooper Works Countryman costs RM401,658, depending on the model.

Since its participation at the 2023 Autoshow, BMW Group Malaysia is said to be displaying the greatest number of brand-new cars in the nation at this year’s Malaysia Autoshow. There are four BMW cars and two MINI models seen in the teaser image that the automaker posted. Based on its silhouette, the all-new Cooper Electric is most likely the other MINI vehicle besides the Countryman. The four BMW vehicles that may be involved are the X5, iX1, i5, and the brand-new iX2.

For a limited number of model versions, BMW Financial Services Malaysia is additionally providing a RM10,000 Easy Cash Drive Rebate. The campaign runs through May 31, 2024.

CARLIST THOUGHTS

From EVs, to hybrids to a strong range of SUVs and a growing number of Minis, BMW has a lot going on in Malaysia. So we recommend you check out the show. The BMW Group Malaysia stand at MAS 2024 can be found in MAEPS Serdang’s Hall A2. The Autoshow’s doors will be open to the public from May 22 to 26 from 10 AM to 10 PM.
