BMW i5 M60 Goes On Sale In Malaysia For RM499K

BMW Malaysia has just debuted its hottest SUV version of the famed electric i5. Called the M60 xDrive it is expected to cost RM499,100 in Malaysia and include a 5-year extended warranty and servicing package. The BMW i5 M60 xDrive debuts at the Malaysia Autoshow 2024 is essentially the “M” version of the “regular” i5 eDrive40.

With its M Sport Pro option, M Rear Spoiler, and carbon fibre wing mirrors, the i5 M60 is essentially an even sportier-looking i5 than the base version—and it gets 21-inch Style 954M wheels too boot.

This is quite a car. It comes featuring—as standard equipment—exterior features including an M Sport Sport Pro Package, M High Gloss Shadow Line, M Grille without the faux horizontal slats, 21-inch Style 954M wheels, and M Rear Spoiler.

The i5 M60 xDrive is equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) system in Malaysia. On the other hand, the i5 eDrive40 is fitted with a single electric motor arrangement that is located in the back.

The i5 M60 also has an improved suspension system that includes front and rear electronically adjustable shock absorbers while both models come equipped with rear air suspension as standard equipment.

The i5 gets a 601-hp powerplant

For those who need a barrage of data to impress, the i5 M60 xDrive gets dual-motor AWD, Maximum System Power (in My Sport Mode), 601 hp, and 795 Nm. This SUV jumps from 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and reached a top speed of 230 km/h (electronically limited).

Fitted with an 81.2 kWh battery, which is also present in the i5 eDrive40, the i5 M60 xDrive can travel 516 km (WLTP) between charges using its battery. This however is inherently shorter than what the i5 eDrive40’s more potent dual-motor configuration allows for.

Inside, the Malaysian-spec i5 M60 xDrive features red and blue stitching along with carbon fibre accents. To add even more sportiness, the M leather steering wheel is enhanced with a red centre marking. The luxurious all-electric sedan’s interior is completed with the BMW Individual Leather “Merino” floating screen arrangement, which includes a 14.9-inch touchscreen entertainment head unit and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, among other things.

Regarding safety, the i5 M60 xDrive in Malaysia is equipped with the Driving Assistance Professional package from the manufacturer, which consists of Lane Control Assistant, Steering, and Distance Control with Stop and Go functionality. Here are some more safety features: route control, active navigation guidance, automatic speed limit assist, side collision protection, road priority warning, wrong-way warning, and crossing-traffic warning with braking capability.

In summary, it has been verified that the price of the BMW i5 M60 xDrive in Malaysia is RM499,100. This includes the 5-year extended warranty and service package from the brand. Along with these features, the price includes access to BMW Service Online, the BMW Roadside Assistance and Accident Hotline, and an 8-year/160,000-kilometer battery warranty.
