Here is the Proton X70 that every technophile has been waiting for. Just debuting in Malaysia, it’s a facelifted version of the current X70 but it comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, ADAS Level 2 and some decent Nappa leather seats.
For interested parties, reservations for the pre-launch of the 2025 Proton X70 are being accepted. To be honest, it’s a significant update as it also comes with a more aggressive front end borrowed from the local C-segment SUV.
Although Proton has not yet disclosed all of the features of the X70 facelift, we can confirm that the car will come with ADAS Level 2, new 12.3-inch head unit, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, Proton link app with remote start capability, new stone grey Nappa leather seats, and new multi-colour rhythmic ambient light.
In addition to the new front end, the Proton X70 facelift also features updated bumpers, new wheels and a new auto unlock feature for its powered tailgate. Inside the car, the new X70 design departs from the current model Geely Boyue Pro by revamping the original X70’s dashboard with a floating infotainment5 unit screen instead, which is essentially the highlight of the new X70.
The big news here—as mentioned above—is that the X70 now gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and boasts a system that is very similar to that of the Proton S70. The carmaker has not yet disclosed all of the specifications for the new X70, including its engine, so we must make some assumptions. The 1.5L TGDI will most likely feature under the bonnet, but the fate of the 1.8L TGDI is uncertain.
Similar to the X50, there are exclusive early bird packages available for the Proton X70 facelift. To secure your reservation and pay a RM500 deposit, prospective clients are urged to speak with a Proton sales advisor or stop by the closest Proton 3S and 4S dealership.
CARLIST THOUGHTS
It is one of the most popular SUVs in the country, so for it to get a stylish aesthetic revamp and finally offer CarPlay and Auto connectivity is a plus for consumers. Although we are not sure about the powerplant just yet, but we can be sure it will be quite adequate, as well as the price.
