New Haval H6 Finally Lands In Malaysian Showrooms

It’s finally here. After months of speculation about its release date and those all-important specs, the GWM Haval H6 HEV has finally landed in Malaysian showrooms. As GWM Malaysia’s first locally assembled (CKD) vehicle, the hybrid SUV is now available starting from RM139,800. Along with the Ora Good Cat, Ora 07, and Tank 300, GWM’s lineup is expanding with the addition of the Haval H6 HEV.

We first wrote about this when news broke that the H6 was to be locally assembled and destined to launch in October.

This HEV is one of the biggest SUVs in its class, measuring 4,683 mm in length, 1,886 mm in width, and 1,724 mm in height. Its length surpasses the Mazda CX-5 (4,550 mm) and Honda CR-V (4,623 mm) which are its main rivals. Additionally, the H6 HEV’s wheelbase of 2,738 mm is longer than that of any of its rivals, including the Proton X70 at 2,705 mm.

The H6 gets a 1.5-litre turbo hybrid pumping out 243-hp

Its 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine and Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) combine to provide 243 horsepower and 530 Nm of system output. According to Haval, DHT is “a highly integrated, high-efficiency, multi-mode, petrol-electric hybrid system with dual-motor hybrid technology to achieve an all-speed and all-scenario perfect balance between high efficiency and high performance.”

In actual use, the system automatically alternates between electric drive, series hybrid, parallel hybrid, or pure ICE drive modes based on driving parameters like engine speed and the 1.69 kWh battery’s power needs.

The eye-catching “Star Matrix” grille, which has a complex geometric design, dominates the Haval H6 HEV’s front end. Sleek LED headlights frame this striking design feature, giving it a unique and memorable face. Nineteen-inch alloy wheels are fitted to the HEV while a horizontal light bar at the back joins the taillights, highlighting the vehicle’s width and giving it a modern look.

A 12.3-inch central head unit that smoothly merges with a 10-inch digital instrument cluster dominates the H6 HEV’s interior, which follows its sleek and contemporary exterior design. Meanwhile, a rotary gear selection dial on the centre console and a sleek four-spoke steering wheel give it a dash of sportiness.

The locally assembled Haval H6 HEV will include a comprehensive suite of Level 2 ADAS features, including intelligent parking assist, adaptive cruise control (ACC), lane departure warning (LDW), lane keep assist (LKA), and automatic emergency braking (AEB).

CARLIST THOUGHTS

So, the H6 has finally landed in Malaysian showrooms after being the brand’s first-ever model to be locally assembled. As you’d expect, this Haval comes with all of the advanced tech and safety features expected on electric SUVs today, including 12.2-inch screens, intelligent parking assist, and adaptive cruise control—and all for a very competitive price.
