New Leapmotor C10 Debuts In Malaysia Starting From RM149K

Chinese carmaker Leapmotor has finally landed in Malaysia’s EV realm. And no, this is no typo—but the brand is being supported in its marketing venture by mega-conglomerate Stellantis. Leapmotor’s first worldwide product, the Leapmotor C10, is officially making its debut in Malaysia this year.

Positioned as a mid-sized SUV in the D-segment, the C10 comes in a single spec and starts at RM159,000 without insurance. However, for a limited time only, Stellantis Malaysia is offering the all-electric SUV for a special introductory price of RM149,000.

The unique Angel Wings headlamps and a dynamic lower grille define the C10’s external design, which has actually already won both the French Design Award and the International CMF Design Award. A prominent full-width taillight bar at the rear is the culmination of the streamlined curves that flow along the sides.

When you step inside the C10, you’ll see that the interior is simple and devoid of switches or buttons. The 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment panel controls all of the car’s features and climate settings. Other than the window toggles, the only physical controls are two switches on the steering wheel that remind us of those found on a Tesla Model 3.

Fold down the back and front seats and there is enough room for a double-sized bed. The C10’s cosy Oeko-Tex silicone upholstery, which is reportedly both eco-friendly and safe for infants, has the potential to transform any campsite into a luxury retreat. Even better, it features settings specifically designed for napping and camping!

The C10 can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds utilizing its 218 horsepower and 320 Nm motor. Leapmotor worked with Maserati to optimise the suspension of the C10 by using its relationship with Stellantis. In a subtle homage to the Italian automaker, its 20-inch wheels are called “Trident” wheels.

Although we don’t anticipate it handling precisely like a Maserati, the goal of our partnership is to improve the C10’s stability and comfort.

CARLIST THOUGHTS

For those looking for a high-end electric driving experience, Leapmotor tells us that the C10 offers a surprisingly luxurious experience with competitive pricing that undercuts several competitors in its sector. However, with well-established rivals controlling the market, like Tesla, it is still unclear if the C10’s features, performance, and affordability are sufficient to draw in buyers.
