Ferrari 12-Cylinder Lands In Malaysian Showrooms Boasting RM4.7M Price Tag

If Malaysia is now home to Ferrari’s most recent V12 masterpiece, then the pricing of the Ferrari 12Cilindri, which translates to “12 cylinders” in Italian, will start at RM4.7 million for the Berlinetta and RM5.1 million for the Spider. Both prices include import taxes and pre-selected options.

The sleek two-door berlinetta (or spider) that is the Ferrari 12Cilindri carries on many of the classic stylistic elements that you would expect from a Ferrari, such as the muscular haunches, long low-slung bonnet, and a new “black screen” grille that appears to have been influenced by the 365 GTB/4 Daytona.Additionally, the 12Cilindri’s boot area has been maximised by placing it only along the borders of the rear deck rather than across the entire boot lid.

Ferrari says that the discreet flaps are capable of generating sufficient downforce (50 kg of downforce at 250 km/h), while still maintaining the sleek lines of the design. And with it located only at the edges of the rear deck instead of across the entire boot lid, boot space on the 12Cilindri has also been maximised.

And with it located only at the edges of the rear deck instead of across the entire boot lid, boot space on the 12Cilindri has also been maximised.

But with a name like that, the Ferrari 12Cilindri’s heart is undoubtedly its best feature. The 6.5-litre V12 engine, known as the Colombo V12, roars to 9,500 rpm with an incredible 830 horsepower and 678 Nm. The application here still uses a fairly basic recipe, even with its modern engine technology—front-mid engined, rear-wheel drive, naturally aspirated with power transmitted through an eight-speed DCT gearbox.

The engine artisans in Maranello had to completely redesign the V12 mill in order to achieve a notable 30 horsepower boost over its predecessor, the 812 Superfast. This modification included 40% lighter titanium con rods, a rebalanced crankshaft, an F1-inspired valvetrain, and even special aluminium alloys for the pistons.

Overall, the Ferrari 12Cilindri can reach a VMax of nearly 340 km/h and sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and cover 0 to 200 km/h in less than 7.9 seconds. According to Ferrari, 80% of the torque is already present at 2,500 rpm, which produces a “feeling of never-ending power all the way to the red line” and quick throttle response.

CARLIST THOUGHTS

This Ferrari 12-cylinder is already an icon as it will arguably be the last model before Lamborghini hybrid powertrain system. But whatever Ferrari has done with this multiple launch will focus international attention on the maverick designer.
