Lotus Cars Malaysia has just debuted its Emeya EV, the company’s first electric hyper-GT, to the Malaysian market. Three versions of this ultimate grand tourer are available. They include the Emeya, priced at RM555,000, the Emeya S, priced at RM643,000, and the Emeya R, costing RM777,000.
We ask potential buyers to kindly note that the listed costs are exclusive to Peninsular Malaysia and come with a manufacturer’s guarantee good for five years or 150,000 km and an eight-year warranty that’s viable for 200,000 km on the battery.
Sitting on Lotus’s Electric Premium Architecture, the new EV has a wheelbase of 3069 mm and measures 5139 mm in length, 2005 mm in width, and 1464 mm in height.
The Emeya’s sculpted front fascia with its unique double-LED daytime running lights and “petal” active lower grille, serves as the foundation for the brand’s “porous” design language. The roofline gently descends into a steep rear end that houses a full-width tail light bar and an active rear spoiler with two adjustable levels. With active aerodynamic components, the EV has a low drag coefficient of 0.21 Cd.
The entry-level Emeya sits on 20-inch alloy wheels shod with 255/45 front and 285/40 rear Pirelli P-Zero tyres. In contrast the Emeya S and R come with 21-inch forged alloy wheels and 265/40 front and 305/35 rear Pirelli P-Zero units.
The front brakes have a diameter of 370 mm and a conventional 4-piston caliper setup, while higher spec models get 412 mm pizza-pan sized rotor— with 6-piston calipers to save the day for over-enthusiastic steerers. Starting out, the brake diameter in the back is 367 mm at first, rising to 397 mm in higher trim levels, and is matched with Lotus Aluminium Floating Calipers. Meanwhile, the car’s electronically regulated air suspension system provides a secure, manageable, gutsy, and enjoyable drive.
A dual-motor setup with maximum power of 612 ps and a peak torque of 710 Nm powers the base Emeya and Emeya S. Customers wishing pace and acceleration won’t be disappointed as the Emeya can reach a top speed of 250 km/h and jump from zero to 100 km/h in 4.15 seconds.
Buyers who opt for the flagship Emeya R model get access to more potent electric motors that produce a total of 918 ps and 985 Nm of torque. It is among the world’s quickest electric GTs, sprinting from 0-100 in just 2.8 seconds.
The identical 102-kWh battery pack powers all EV models, with WLTP claiming a range of 610 km for the base model, 540 km for the mid-spec, and 435 km for the top-spec. In less than eighteen minutes, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% SoC with the aid of a 350kW DC fast charger.
The EV’s luxurious interior highlights sustainability with the use of eco-friendly materials including PVD aluminium, Alcantara, Nappa leather, and Ultrafabrics PU in addition to recycled premium threads.
The intelligent cockpit, which features a massive 15.1-inch touchscreen unit and dual 12.6-inch driver and passenger screens, is paired with KEF’s renowned Uni-QTM speakers and Dolby Atmos 3D surround sound in the minimalist interior. Lotus equipped the EV with cutting-edge Road Noise Cancellation (RNC) technology, which makes use of sensors and algorithms, to provide a peaceful, engaging driving experience.
Packed with clever and cutting-edge technological features, the Lotus Emeya guarantees a thrilling and safe ride. The car comes with adaptive cruise control with stop and go, automated emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, lane centering aid, rear collision warning, traffic sign recognition, a 360-degree camera, and park assist.
These driver-assistance technologies, which are supported by retractable lidar sensors on the roof, front fenders, and tailgate, are powered by two Nvidia Drive Orin chips. For seamless connectivity, the real-time data is shown on a 55-inch projected augmented reality (AR) head-up display (HUD), which is the market leader in this field.
CARLIST THOUGHTS
The Emeya takes Lotus into a whole new world—one of good looks, hi-tech and electrification. For a starting price of RM555K, the Lotus EV boasts super quick acceleration times and massive brakes to pull you up quickly on a dime. No one can argue with 412mm rotors and 6-calipers. Massive and reliable. But to be honest, with the way exotic car design is going these days, I saw quite a lot of Ferrari in the Emeya’s front end, especially around the headlights. Think Purosangue. Did you?
