Bookings For Chery Tiggo 7 Open In Malaysia

We’ve been hearing a lot in the Malaysian media about Chery’s imminent launch of the Tiggo 7 Pro SUV. Chery Malaysia has even posted some tasty images on social media to elevate local awareness of the SUV.  Prospective buyers can register their interests now by submitting information such as name, favourite dealer, email address, and contact number on Chery Malaysia’s official website.

The Tiggo 7 Pro, the Chinese automaker’s C-segment SUV competitor, is expected to arrive on American soil in the first half of 2024 and will be locally manufactured (CKD) in Kulim, Kedah. When it formally debuts, it will go up against vehicles like the Mazda CX-5, Honda CR-V, and Proton X70.

While Chery is holding back on revealing some of the car’s details, the media was given access to a small amount of the Tiggo 7 Pro’s technical specifications in July of last year during a press briefing hosted by Chery Malaysia. This includes options like heated front seats, a huge 24.6-inch twin-screen display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a panoramic sunroof, and 18-inch alloy wheels. In addition, a 540-degree video system, an 8-speaker Sony premium audio system, and 17 advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) features will be included with the C-segment SUV.

With a 1.6-liter TGDi inline-4 engine and a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox (DCT), the Malaysian-spec Tiggo 7 Pro will be powered with an engine that produces 197 horsepower and 290 Nm. This allows the SUV to reach 100 km/h from a complete stop in 8.3 seconds.

CARLIST THOUGHTS

This Tiggo 7 looks like one of the best SUVs to enter the market in a long time. In fact, for the first time, its Chery styling has the depth and flare to go head to head with big names like Honda, Toyota and Kia, not to mention the SUV’s powertrain and interior quality levels. Prices are still under wraps but expect a sticker price that will shame some other Asian rivals.
