Chery Tiggo 4 Pro Debuts In Indonesia As Tiggo Cross Starting From RM65K

Let’s face it—there is still a sizable barrier between Chinese vehicles striking a chord with local European buyers and not newly establish Chinese makes. During the 2025 launch at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS 2025), the Chery Tiggo Cross—known as the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro in other markets—was introduced into Indonesia (but not Malaysia — at least not yet!). The Archipelago offers two models of the small B-segment SUV, with prices starting at IDR 239.5 million (about RM65k).

The Tiggo Cross, which received a redesign last year, is around the same size as the Perodua Ativa. It features Chery’s “Tiger Concept” design language, which includes a star-diamond-shaped front grille. Thi impression stands out as Tiger Claw LED headlights, or Tiger Stripes taillights.

The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated inline-four engine that powers the Chery Tiggo Cross in Indonesia generates 116 horsepower and 138 Nm when mated to a CVT gearbox. 

A pair of 17-inch alloy wheels, LED exterior lighting, a 10.25-inch infotainment display, a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster, and a number of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) features are all standard. After all that’s what you’d expect. Right!

Chery Malaysia stated in 2024 that it would introduce a sub-RM100k SUV, which was assumed to be the Tiggo 4 Pro, but this has not yet happened. As early as 2022, the Tiggo 4 Pro was also shown off in Malaysia in its pre-facelift configuration.

At the moment, the Omoda 5, Tiggo 7 Pro and 8 Pro, and the completely electric Omoda E5 make up Chery’s Malaysian lineup. 

When the Tiggo 4 Pro finally makes it to Malaysia, it may use the same 1.5-litre turbocharged inline-four engine as the Tiggo 7 Pro, which produces 147 horsepower and 210 Nm and is mated to a CVT gearbox. The vehicle already has this powertrain option in other regions, and it might make local assembly easier for Chery Malaysia.

A Chery Tiggo 4 Pro priced under RM100k might undoubtedly be a significant threat to the Honda WR-V and Perodua Ativa. For comparison, the 1.5-liter naturally aspirated four-banger Honda WR-V retails for between RM89,900 and RM107,900, while the Perodua Ativa with a turbocharged 1.0-liter inline-three engine costs between RM62,500 and RM72,600.
