China’s Zeekr to Reveal 3 New Models At CES

Boasting the new 001 FR, 009 Grand, and Mix on show, Zeekr will have the biggest Chinese presence at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Zeekr, an all-electric sub-brand of the massive automaker Geely, is positioned as a high-end substitute for brands like Mercedes, Audi, and BMW. We’ve previously featured Zeekr’s 001 and the X crossover, and both have demonstrated that they have the chops to be formidable competitors. Although it’s still not clear which models Zeekr will employ to establish its presence in the UK, while both the 001 and X are likely offerings.

While the 009 Grand is a four-seat MPV intended to transport company types, the 001 FR would serve as a performance-focused competitor to the Tesla Model S Plaid. The newest of the three vehicles, the Mix, is a five-seat family MPV that would be a fierce rival Volkswagen ID.Buzz.

Similar to the Volkswagen, the Zeekr has a sliding rear door for quick access, no B-pillar, and two front seats that can be turned 270 degrees to face the backseat occupants. Additionally, there is a pop-out table and the central console can slide from the front to the back, just like in a Hyundai Ioniq 5.

The Mix is supported by Geely’s SEA-M architecture which is a variation of the platform found in Zeekr’s own 001 and 009, the Volvo EM90, and Polestar 4. Under the CLTC testing scheme, there is an 800V system with 76kWh or 102kWh batteries that deliver ranges of 341 and 434 miles respectively. According to Zeekr, it should take slightly more than ten minutes for the smaller battery to recharge from 10% to 80%, although we would like to test that ambitious claim.

The 001 FR, which has a shooting brake-style body, a 0-100 kph time of 2.02 seconds, and a top speed of 275 kph, is at the other end of Zeekr’s model range. It uses a quad-motor setup with 1,247 horsepower and 1,280 Nm of torque to achieve such pace.

Additionally, Zeekr incorporated a Raikkonen mode, which was created with input from former Formula One champion Kimi Raikkonen, to establish nine unique calibrations that help unlock the car’s full potential. Torque vectoring is also included to enable a drift mode likened to Hyundai Ioniq 5 N’s system.

CARLIST THOUGHTS

Zeekr will have a special preview news conference on January 6th, when it is expected to provide additional information about its future innovations and strategic global objectives. CES takes place from January 7th to 10th.
