EV Charging Innovation Prize Awarded To Electrify America

Move over Tesla. Electrify America has just been awarded the EV Charging Innovation Excellence Award at the 2025 Battery Awards, presented at The Battery Show North America. This recognition celebrates companies shaping the future of electrification, sustainability, and advanced technologies.

Electrify America received the honor for its large-scale deployment of battery energy storage systems (BESS), a solution to help overcome electrical grid constraints and deliver a more accessible Hyper-Fast electric vehicle (EV) charging across the country.

“Think of BESS like a giant backup battery for our stations,” said Rob Barrosa, president and CEO of Electrify America. “It stores energy when demand is low and gives it back when drivers need it most. That means we can bring Hyper-Fast charging to more places, even where the grid can’t fully support it on its own.”

By reducing costly grid upgrades and enabling the construction of larger stations in more communities, BESS helps Electrify America make EV charging more available to drivers coast-to-coast. Electrify America has over 170 BESS units operational, totaling more than 65,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of storage deployed nationwide, the largest rollout of its kind paired with Hyper-Fast DC charging in North America.

So who is Electrify America LLC? It’s the largest open Hyper-Fast charging network in the U.S., is investing more than $2 billion in Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) infrastructure and access. The investment enables millions of Americans to charge with confidence and discover the benefits of electric driving on our coast–to–coast network of highway and community chargers.

CARLIST THOUGHTS

Electrify America’s Hyper-Fast network currently operates in 47 states and the District of Columbia, supporting increasing ZEV adoption with a network that is convenient, technologically advanced and built for customers. Electrify Commercial provides expert solutions for businesses looking to develop electric vehicle charging programs.
