For Malaysian Market Jaecoo Rebrands As Omoda Jaecoo Malaysia

In line with Chery’s export market strategy, Jaecoo Malaysia has officially rebranded as Omoda Jaecoo Malaysia, marking its first anniversary at Malaysia Autoshow 2025.

“This brand refresh signals our optimism for the market and the growth opportunities. As a dynamic brand with a finger on the pulse of consumers’ preferences and needs, we are ready to elevate the way people experience the Omoda Jaecoo brand,” commented Emily Lek, Omoda Jaecoo Malaysia Vice President.

She later added, “With our high-performing vehicles that offer strong street presence, we are passionate about delivering a personalised lifestyle experience as Malaysia’s challenger premium off-road SUV brand.”

The company has registered more than 12,000 vehicles since entering the Malaysian automobile market in 2024—a lineup that currently includes the Omoda C9 and the Jaecoo J7 Petrol and Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV).

The Jaecoo J8, which was first shown in Malaysia in March 2025, will shortly be Omoda Jaecoo Malaysia’s fourth model to land in showrooms.

Similar in size to the Mazda CX-8, the Jaecoo J8 is a D-segment SUV and will be the first model to be introduced under the new brand identity.

The J8’s 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine generates 249 horsepower and 385 Nm of torque, and when mated with an eight-speed automatic gearbox, this allows a top speed of 200 km/h and a sprint time from 0 to 100 km/h of a conservative 9 seconds with both front or all wheel drive models available.

CARLIST THOUGHTS

The Jaecoo J8 and its other sister models offer unique styling and huge grilles that are hard to ignore and define the brand’s character. Bookings for the Jaecoo J8 are currently being accepted in Malaysia, with the RWD version expected to cost RM195,000, while the AWD version should cost around RM220,000.
