GAC’s New GS3 Emzoom Finally Launched In Malaysia

After much speculation, the 2024 GAC GS3 Emzoom has finally landed in Malaysian showrooms. Now available in three variants, the Emzoom is entirely imported from China.

Employing a compact, edgy exterior, and starting from RM118,900, it is positioned to compete with vehicles such as the Chery Omoda 5, Honda HR-V, and Proton X50. Sitting on GAC‘s GPMA platform, the Emzoom is 4,410 mm long, 1,850 mm wide, and 1,600 mm high with a 2,650 mm wheelbase.

The Emzoom’s exterior design is undoubtedly its most striking feature, employing the “Flying Mecha” front fascia while its aggressive, angular lines give the impression that Japanese Gundam figurines were the source of design inspiration.

The range-topping Premium R model has an even more aggressive-looking design and features centre-mounted exhaust outlets and a diffuser.

Standard exterior equipment include “Laser Eye” split-LED headlights, LED daytime running lights (DRLs), “Light Dart” LED taillights, flush exterior door handles, 18-inch alloy wheels, exterior at least 4 colour options.

The 1.5-litre turbocharged inline-4 engine produces 177 hp and 270 Nm with power being solely supplied to the front wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The crossover with cover 0-100 km/h in 8.0 seconds and has an average fuel consumption (NEDC) of 5.9L/100km.

Neat and tidy inside, the Emzoom has standard features that include a 10.25-inch touchscreen screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, as well as a remote engine start feature. Only the more costly models are equipped with features like a power tailgate, a sunroof, and a 6-way powered driver’s seat.

For the first 2000 clients, WTC Automotif is providing a Special Launch Package in honour of its official debut that includes three free planned maintenance appointments, labour, parts, and lubricants included. In addition to the vehicle’s usual 5-year/150,000-kilometer warranty, the first registered owner will receive a 7-year/180,000-kilometre engine and powertrain warranty.

CARLIST THOUGHTS

GAC shows that Chinese carmakers, or should we say ‘designers,’ have come a long way since the copycat days of yesteryear. This Emzoom looks unique, edgy and smart and ready to do battle with the best in the segment—boasting a perky turbo engine, stylish interior and a keen price.
