Geely Galaxy E5 Finally Launched With Proton e.MAS7 Version

Many EV fans will be thrilled to see that the Galaxy E5 has finally been released in China by Geely. Five distinct versions of the all-electric SUV, which serves as the prototype for the future Proton e.MAS7, will be available for purchase. So expected this model to be released in Malaysia in the not too distant future.

According to CarNewsChina, the Galaxy E5 has a pricing range that begins at 112,800 Yuan (about RM69,700) and peaks at 148,800 Yuan (about RM92,000). As it turns out, the car is far less expensive than what was expected during the pre-sale program, which was between 123,000 Yuan (about RM76,200) and 157,000 Yuan (about RM97,200).

In terms of size, the Galaxy E5 has a wheelbase of 2,750 mm long, in addition to 4,615 mm x 1,901 mm x 1,670 mm, making it comparable to the specs of the Honda CR-V.

It employs cell-to-body battery integration technology to achieve a 50:50 front-to-rear axle load ratio. The Galaxy is built on the new Global Intelligent New Energy Architecture architecture, which is evolved from the SEA platform.

That makes it available in five different configurations, which are all fitted with the same 218 horsepower front-mounted electric motor, enabling it to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds. The Galaxy E5 comes with two battery capacities—a 49.52 kWh and a 60.22 kWh unit which enable ranges of 440 km and 530 km respectively under the CLTC standard. This means we can expect—in the real world (!!)—range values of around 380 km and 470km.

The Galaxy E5 has a 15.4-inch infotainment display with 2.5K resolution, a two-spoke steering wheel, a head-up display, and a 10.2-inch driver’s instrument monitor. Powered by a Dragon Eagle One 7nm CPU, the Flyme Auto system is part of the impressive infotainment system. The 16 speakers, including the headrest speakers, are unique to the higher variation model.

The Galaxy E5 is available in China in eight different exterior colour options: red, pink, grey, green, white, silver, black, and blue. Some of the hardware and features that may be added to the Malaysian-spec Proton e.MAS7 are visible with the launch of the Galaxy E5.

A 10.2-inch driver’s instrument display, a two-spoke steering wheel, a head-up display, and a 15.4-inch infotainment display with 2.5K resolution are among the interior features which is run by a Dragon Eagle One 7nm CPU. Featuring 16 speakers the Galaxy E5 boasts the most storage compartments in its class, with 33 available for storage, according to the firm.

CARLIST THOUGHTS

The E5 could be one of the most significant EVs to debut in Malaysia in the last year. Apart from its good looks and sharp proportions, the Galaxy EV offers close to 500 km of range, a 15.4 inch infotainment display and a price tag starting from around RM70,000 making it very competitive.
