GWM’s New Ora 07 Is Finally Launched In Malaysia

After a long wait, GWM Malaysia has finally launched the electric Ora 07. The Long Range Ultra spec and Ora 07 Performance are the two available variants, with starting prices of RM169,800 and RM189,800, respectively.

The Ora 07’s dimensions are 4,871 mm in length, 1,500 mm in height and 1,862 mm in width, making it roughly the same size as the Tesla Model 3 and the BYD Seal. The Ora 07 in Malaysia will come in Amethyst grey, Crystal purple, and Jade white colour options.

Standard equipment includes LED headlights, LED daytime running lights (DRLs), LED taillights, and 18-inch alloy wheels on the Ora 07 in Malaysia, while the Performance grade gets 19-inch alloy wheels and an electrically retractable spoiler.

Generating 204 horsepower and 340 Nm, front-wheel-drive, single electric motor powers the Ora 07 Long Range in Malaysia. With its more potent dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) system, the Performance model generates 408 horsepower and 680 Nm. The identical 83.5 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack powers both versions, giving them corresponding NEDC-rated all-electric ranges of 640 km and 550 km (translated to real-world figures – 550km & 460).

In contrast to the LR version’s 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 7.9 seconds and top speed of 170 km/h, the Performance spec sprints to 100  km/h in just 4.3 seconds. Both versions will charge from 30-80% on DC in 32 minutes, but will take 15 hours to charge from 0-100% on AC power.

Inside, the Malaysian-spec Ora 07 boasts features including dual-zone automatic air conditioning, rear aircon vents, and leather upholstery in either brown or black. The Porsche Panamera-inspired all-electric sedan also comes with a powered tailgate and powered front seats with massaging capabilities.

It also offers a 10.25-inch digital instrument display and a 12.3-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity as well as an 11-speaker Harman Infinity sound system.

As you’d expect on the latest EVs, the Ora 07 in Malaysia is equipped with a suite of active safety features consisting of an intelligent cruise control (ICC), traffic jam assist (TJA), lane keep assist (LKA), traffic sign recognition (TSR), and rear cross-traffic alert (RCTA).

A 6-year/150,000-km comprehensive warranty and an 8-year/180,000-kilometer warranty covering the battery, electric motor, and electric motor control unit are included in the cost of the Ora 07.

In the event that the battery’s state of charge (SOC) drops below 70%, GWM Malaysia is also offering a one-to-one replacement. In addition to this warranty package, the first 500 GWM Ora 07 customers will receive a free home wall box charger and an extra 2-year warranty (bringing the total to an 8-year/180,000km warranty).

CARLIST THOUGHTS

This is one of the most highly anticipated EVs to land in Malaysian showrooms with its combination of unique looks, competitive range, excellent safety equipment and class-beating price. After all, it’s basically the same size as a Tesla Model 3 but a lot cheaper.
