Lamborghini Celebrates Its 60th Anniversary Of The Miura With The Polo Storico Tour

Yes, the Miura did star in the opening scene of the famous flick “The Italian Job” in 1969. And now it takes on a whole new meaning. Automobili Lamborghini is taking part for the third consecutive year in Auto e Moto d’Epoca at BolognaFiere until 26 October, with an exhibition celebrating the tenth anniversary of Polo Storico, the brand’s heritage department. The undisputed star of the stand is the oldest Lamborghini in existence, the 350 GT chassis no. 2, the first production car built by the House of Sant’Agata Bolognese.

It is displayed alongside a recent discovery from the Lamborghini archive: a 1:1 scale study of the 350 GT’s interior layout, dated 1963. The display is completed by a selection of original documents and materials from the historical archive. During the event, Lamborghini also announces an important initiative planned for 2026, marking the 60th anniversary of the Miura: the Lamborghini Polo Storico Tour.

“Participating in Auto e Moto d’Epoca is the ideal occasion to conclude a year of celebrations dedicated to Polo Storico,” said Giuliano Cassataro, Head of After Sales at Automobili Lamborghini “We couldn’t tell our story better than by showcasing the car with which it all began – the 350 GT. At the same time, our presence in Bologna allows us to present our future activities, which will see the timeless Miura at the center of new initiatives dedicated to our clients and collectors. This is the perfect opportunity to announce that in 2026 we will organize an important tour, to pay tribute to the world’s first super car.”

The Lamborghini 350 GT on display in Bologna, chassis no. 2, is the oldest surviving example and is currently undergoing authenticity certification by Polo Storico. The first production car of the brand, presented at the 1964 Geneva Motor Show, it represents a milestone in the history of Automobili Lamborghini and in the work of Polo Storico.

Powered by a 3.5-liter V12 engine, initially designed by Giotto Bizzarrini for the 350 GTV and later adapted for production by Paolo Stanzani, the car was built by Carrozzeria Touring using its Superleggera construction technology. The 350 GT marks the beginning of Lamborghini’s grand touring tradition. The car on display in Bologna is also particularly special for featuring on its hood a rare prototype Lamborghini logo in white and black – one of Ferruccio Lamborghini’s earliest design ideas, preceding the now-iconic emblem with the golden bull on a black background that has become a timeless symbol of the House of Sant’Agata Bolognese.

Next to the car is an original 1:1 technical drawing dated 1963, representing the interior study of the 350 GT. It is the oldest document preserved in the Lamborghini historical archive, a precious testament to the collaboration with Carrozzeria Touring and a symbol of the care with which Polo Storico preserves the industrial and stylistic heritage of the Sant’Agata Bolognese company. The display is completed by several books illustrating the two main services offered by Polo Storico – Restoration and Certification – as well as selected items from the archive.

Auto e Moto d’Epoca, a benchmark event for collectors and enthusiasts from across Europe, marks the final event in Lamborghini’s calendar celebrating ten years of Polo Storico, the department dedicated to the preservation and protection of the company’s historical and technical heritage. Automobili Lamborghini is exhibiting in Hall 29, dedicated to the area’s ‘Motor Valley’. The show is open to the public from 23 to 26 October, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (until 7:00 p.m. on 25 and 26 October).
