New 2024 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid: Familiar Formula With Important Upgrades

Toyota has announced details on the 2024 RAV4 lineup, including the returning RAV4 Hybrid Woodland Edition with new two-tone paint options and added standard features like a rear activity mount. The 2024 RAV4 brings minor styling updates across the model line along with the latest Toyota Audio Multimedia system with enhanced voice controls and cloud connectivity features.

The 2024 RAV4 offers three powertrain options. The Hybrid models feature a 2.5L 4-cylinder paired with Toyota Hybrid Drive and deliver 219 horsepower. RAV4 Hybrids are exclusively paired with all-wheel drive and achieve 37 mpg combined fuel economy. The 2.5L gas engine makes 203 horsepower, manages 27 mpg city/35 highway with front-wheel drive or 25/33 with available all-wheel drive. Both engines utilize Toyota’s D-4S fuel injection system for improved efficiency.

Standard across all models is the 8-speed Direct Shift automatic transmission optimized for smooth shifting and efficiency. The RAV4 also has drive modes like Eco and Sport to tailor the driving experience.

All 2024 RAV4 models come equipped with the latest Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ system including pre-collision braking, full-speed radar cruise control, lane keeping assist and auto high beams. Available advanced safety features include blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, 360 degree camera system and more.

On the technology front, the RAV4 gains Toyota’s new Audio Multimedia system with cloud navigation, WiFi hotspot capability, integrated streaming apps, and enhanced voice recognition. A 10.5″ touchscreen and JBL premium audio are available on higher trim levels. Over-the-air software updates help keep systems up to date.

The 2024 Toyota RAV4 starts at an MSRP of $28,745 for the base LE front-wheel drive model. The hybrid comes with e-AWD on all trims and starts at $31,475.

Our Thoughts

The 2024 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid remains a reliable compact SUV choice for families needing ample passenger and cargo room. Its spacious cabin comfortably fits 4. With improved hybrid efficiency, ample safety features, and upgraded tech, the new RAV4 Hybrid provides solid daily driving capability for most buyers. Choose the RAV4 Hybrid for excellent fuel economy without sacrificing performance or versatility. Boring, but very reliable.
