Bentley has just married high performance with ultra-luxury and come up with the outstanding Bentley Flying Spur Speed. Born in Crewe, this four-door supercar has just debuted in Malaysia. And as for price, it’ll set you back around RM2.9 million before options, based on current exchange rates.
Its hybrid performance is undoubtedly supercar-level. Together with a 190 hp and 450 Nm electric motor, the new 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine generates 600 hp and 800 Nm, for a total output of 782 horsepower and 1,000 Nm of torque. An eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox transfers this power to all four wheels, allowing the saloon to jump from zero to 100 km/h in under 3.5 seconds.
Although the legendary W12 engine is no longer available, Bentley claims that the hybrid powertrain in the Flying Spur Speed produces 11% more torque and 19% more power than the previous 12-cylinder Flying Spur Speed.
The Speed comes fitted with bespoke Bentley Performance Active Chassis technology, which includes adaptive twin-valve dampers, all-wheel steering, an electronically-controlled limited slip differential (LSD), Bentley’s Dynamic Ride active anti-roll system, and updated ESC software.
So you think this huge sedan is a gas-guzzler? Try a range of 829-kilometers per tank which crushes rival mileage. The Flying Spur Speed’s inbuilt 25.9 kWh battery allows it to travel up to 76 km (NEDC) on pure electricity at up to 140 km/h. It can be fully charged in two hours and forty-five minutes using 11 kW of AC power.
The Bentley Flying Spur employs a front grille, front bumper, and rear diffuser designed specifically for the Speed, giving it an elegant street presence befitting a premium sedan. The jewel-like full LED matrix headlights and the signature illuminated “Flying B” logo on the bonnet are the epitome of luxury.
Inside, a completely redesigned seat design has been incorporated with 3D diamond quilting and an updated perforation pattern. Now, depending on the driver’s mood, you can choose from a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, three analogue dials, and a handcrafted veneer display, as well as new instrumentation graphics and the distinctive Bentley rotating display.

I don’t often say this, but I strongly recommend you check out the Bentley promo video here as it stars the 1996 F1 world champion Damon Hill and racer Lia Block disengaging the traction control system and showing what this Bentley is capable of on a race track. It seems to handle more like a BMW M5 than a stately Bentley sedan. And you will pay a fair sticker price for the privilege.
