New BYD Seal Dynamic Version Debuts In Malaysia From RM164K

Malaysia’s local BYD distributor, Sime Darby Beyond Auto, has just announced the arrival here of a new entry-level Seal variation—called the Seal Dynamic. Introduced at RM163,800, this new version is priced below both the Seal Standard and Seal Performance, having reduced the starting price by RM16,000 in the process.

This bread-and-butter version of the BYD Seal packs a less powerful electric motor and a smaller battery pack. With less power, it has the same rear-wheel drive setup as the Premium, using a single motor. With 203 horsepower and 310 Nm of torque, the Dynamic accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds.

Employing a 61.4 kWh LFP battery, the Seal Dynamic has a range of 460 km (WLTP), which when translated to real-world range falls to under 400km. The Premium and Performance versions have a quicker maximum charging rate of 150 kW, even though it allows a maximum DC charging capacity of 110 kW. All models in the lineup continue to use 7 kW single-phase AC charging and offer the vehicle-to-load (V2L) feature as standard.

The Seal Dynamic has a panoramic glass roof, 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, LED daytime running lights (DRLs), LED tail lights on the outside, and buyers can choose from exterior colours including Cosmos Black or Aurora White.

Inside, there is standard black leather upholstery, an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument display, and a 15.6-inch rotatable touchscreen infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Additionally, two Qi wireless chargers are supplied.

The advanced driver safety assistance systems (ADAS) suite of the brand is included as standard equipment on the Seal Dynamic in Malaysia. Features included range from Emergency Lane Keeping System (ELKA), to Lane Detection Warning (LDW), Lane Departure Prevention System (LDP), to Automatic emergency braking system (AEB), and adaptive cruise control (ACC).

A 6-year/150,000-kilometer vehicle warranty and an 8-year/160,000-kilometer high-voltage battery guarantee are included in the cost of the BYD Seal Dynamic. An 8-year/150,00km drive unit warranty is also included.

CARLIST THOUGHTS

We have said it before on Carlist, but we believe that the Seal is one of the best-looking EVs on the market. Only now, the sedan consolidates its advanced feature package with a new highly desirable entry-level, cheaper ‘Dynamic’ version that will land the car in the price range of more interested buyers.
