New Haval H6 HEV Records Over 1,500 Monthly Bookings In Malaysia

Haval’s H6 is proving to be a popular SUV in Malaysia of late, and it’s also showing that every new car does not have to be electric. About 200 GWM Haval H6 HEVs, the company’s first locally assembled (CKD) model, are now being delivered to new owners across the country by Great Wall Motor (GWM) Malaysia. In fact the company has already received over 1,500 bookings for the hybrid SUV in less than a month since its debut.

According to the firm, the strong sales are a reflection of the SUV’s beefy market demand and customer interest in Malaysia, and shows that affordable, high-quality vehicles are just what the market wants.

Globally, GWM’s sales performance is also evident—in the third quarter of this year, the company sold 122,700 units internationally, an astounding 39.85% increase from the previous year. In Q3 2024, the GWM Tank brand achieved over 500,000 cumulative sales, while the GWM Haval brand recently exceeded nine million units in cumulative global sales.

There is only one model of the GWM Haval H6 HEV available in Malaysia, and it costs RM139,800 without insurance. By combining a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine with a dedicated hybrid transmission and electric motor, the HEV’s hybrid powertrain produces 243 horsepower and 530 Nm.

Although it takes 7.7 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h, GWM claims that its customers found the H6 HEV’s fuel-saving features most appealing, which include a 1,000 km driving range on a full tank.

GWM Malaysia is providing a number of good offers for the Haval H6 HEV as a thank you to its customers. These include a “GWM Owners Loyalty Offer,” which gives current GWM vehicle owners an extra RM3,000 rebate on the H6 HEV, and five years of free service (including parts and labour) for those who registered their cars in 2024.

As standard, the Haval H6 has a seven-year/200,000-kilometer whole vehicle warranty, an eight-year/1,000,000-kilometer HEV system guarantee, and a 10-year/1,000,000-kilometer engine warranty.

CARLIST THOUGHTS

The fact that this petrol powered hybrid is proving so popular in Malaysia just goes to show that there is still a sizable segment of the motoring public who choose ICE over EV and petrol over electricity. The H6 is a good-looking SUV, well appointed, powerful enough, and will take the fight right up to the best from Toyota, Honda and Proton.
