New Lamborghini Urus SE Is Brand’s First PHEV In Malaysia

Starting at a hefty RM1,028,000 before taxes, the new Lamborghini Urus SE, has finally arrived in Malaysia. It’s the brand’s first plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUV, having just made its debut globally at this year’s Beijing Motor Show.

The Urus SE has undergone external styling changes, and now employs Redesigned Matrix LED headlights, with new LED taillight signature, rear diffuser, rear spoiler, and front grille, while the front and rear bumpers have almost been tweaked.

In addition to visual improvements, the Urus SE now performs better aerodynamically. The diffuser further improves the vehicle’s stability by increasing rear downforce by 35% at high speeds in comparison to the Urus S, especially when combined with the new spoiler.

There has been a 15% improvement in aerodynamics over the original Urus thanks to the redesigned air ducts and additional under-body air vents that channel more airflow to cool the engine and mechanical parts. The regulation of airflows allocated to the braking system has also been enhanced by the revised front section design and aerodynamic underbelly optimisation. Compared to the prior system, this has improved air cooling by 30%.

The Lamborghini Urus SE in Malaysia is equipped with a standard set of 23-inch Galanthus alloy wheels and Pirelli P Zero tyres. Three specific P Zeros, ranging in size from 21 to 23 inches, are available to satisfy clients’ varying needs for comfort and sportiness. There are also the Scorpion Winter 2 tyres available.

More colour options are now available for customers to personalise the Lamborghini Urus SE than ever before. There are now over 100 bodywork options for the car, expanding its colour palette. This contains the two new colours that were introduced at launch: Bianco Sapphirus (white) with an interior of Terra Kedros (terracotta) and Arancio Egon (orange) combined with an interior of Arancio Apodis (orange).

The Urus SE incorporates a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system, employing a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine and a transmission-integrated electric drive system. Mated with an 8-speed automatic transmission, the system has a combined output of 800 hp and 950 Nm, making the Urus SE the most powerful Urus ever, and the fastest production car in its segment.

It jumps from 0-100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds and has a top speed of 312 km/h. In EV mode, its top speed is 130 km/h thanks to a battery capacity of 25.9 kWh and boasts EV range of 60 km.

The interior of the Malaysian-spec Urus SE has been redesigned, maintaining the brand’s defining “feel like a pilot” styling element. New design elements that highlight the Revuelto’s lightweight feel are now present throughout the front area of the dashboard.

The Lamborghini Urus SE in Malaysia comes with a 12.3-inch digital instrument display, a 12.3-inch central touchscreen display, Lamborghini Infotainment System (LIS), and the Latest Human Machine Interface (HMI).

CARLIST THOUGHTS

As the fastest car in its segment and Lambo’s first-ever plug-in hybrid, this Urus should generate significant interest among a niche market with deep pockets. This PHEV setup will generate unprecedented power while also delivering record fuel efficiency for an Urus.
