New Mercedes-AMG C63 Performance Model Teased In Malaysia

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has just teased three new models on its social media pages—the new Mercedes-AMG C63 S E Performance, as well as the facelifted GLB35 and GLA45 S. The models appeared in the teasers with minimal backlight and with only their grilles and headlights visible.

Unlike its predecessor, the all-new C63 S E Performance replaces its thumping V8 with a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. However, bettering the old V8, its plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain generates a combined system output of 680 horsepower and 1,020 Nm with the assistance of an electric motor. Mated to a 9-speed AMG Speedshift transmission, power is channeled to all four wheels via the 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive (AWD) system.

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia released a teaser photograph of the Mercedes-AMG C63 S E Performance, which appears to be the F1 Edition of the performance sedan. This gives it a more aggressive nuance by adding red highlights to its body kit and wheels. When the C63 S is finally introduced into Malaysia, we’ll have to wait and see if this is included as standard gear.

Powering the GLA45 S is a naturally aspirated 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-4 powertrain that makes 421 hp and 500 Nm and is mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox (DCT) which distributes power to all four wheels via the 4MATIC+ AWD system.

The Mercedes-AMG GLB35 facelift however, employs a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-4 engine that has been electrified. During hard acceleration, the engine produces an extra 13 horsepower and 150 Nm of boost thanks to a 48-volt integrated starter generator (ISG). The vehicle’s 4MATIC AWD technology, when paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox (DCT), sends power to all four wheels, resulting in a combined system output of 306 horsepower and 400 Nm.

CARLIST THOUGHTS

While Mercedes Malaysia is teasing the newly launched (locally) C63, and playing with darkened images, we just googled an official Mercedes image of an already released C63 sedan in Europe—to allow you to get a look at the car in full. You can check out the wagon version in the teaser. Mercedes-Benz Malaysia is encouraging the public to participate in the upcoming Mercedes-Benz World event where all models will be displayed. By participating in an activity specified in the brand’s social media post, participants will also have the chance to win exclusive products.
