New Mercedes-AMG CLA Finally Debuts In Malaysia

Last week, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia debuted the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 S 4Matic+ to round out its lineup of compact cars on our soil, after the introduction of the 2023 Mercedes-AMG A-Class facelift range in Malaysia earlier this year.

Priced at RM527,888 on the road and without insurance for the new CLA 45 S 4Matic+, or RM557,888 for the limited AMG Street Style Edition edition if you prefer a little extra flair. Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s online showroom is now taking orders for both models.

The new CLA 45 S’s exterior updates mostly reflect those made to the new A-Class model line. These updates include a new Multibeam LED headlamp with distinctive daytime running lights, revised light signatures inside the new LED tail lights and a slightly modified AMG Line body kit and aerodynamics package.

Its bespoke Panamericana grille differentiates it from other models, and the 19-inch AMG five-twin-spoke alloys and the Night Package chrome add even more aggression to the A-Class range.

For those wanting even more extravagance, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia is also offering the new CLA 45 S in a limited-edition AMG Street Style Edition, which includes the majority of the optional features mentioned above along with distinctive Manufaktur Mountain Grey Magno paintwork and chequered-flag decals.

The CLA 45 S 4Matic+’s performance is unchanged, boasting a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine generating 421 hp and 500 Nm of torque, and is mated to an eight-speed AMG Speedshift dual-clutch gearbox with all-wheel-drive.

That allows a top speed of 270 km/h and a zero to 100 km/h sprint time of 4.1 seconds. The new four-door small coupe, like all current AMG models, is also outfitted with cutting-edge technologies to boost performance, including the AMG Dynamics, AMG Track Pace, and AMG Ride Control adaptive suspension.

The revamped centre console, which now has a shallow storage area similar to all other versions in place of the touchpad control panel, is the most significant interior modification. The current version of the MBUX operating system, which controls the twin 10.25-inch panels, has also been updated to include new display styles and a redesigned telematics system.

Let’s be honest here—you’d have to be a real AMG aficionado to opt for the all-new CLA 45 S 4Matic+ over any other compact model in Mercedes’ lineup, or any other performance sedan lineup for that matter. Its cosmetic upgrades are very chic and subtle while the performance and suspension mods give driving enthusiasts a special treat. If you have a spare RM527,000 stashed down the back of the sofa, go for this AMG.
