New MG Cyberster Debuts In Indonesia, Teased In Malaysia

Roadster fans will be glad to hear that MG’s Cyberster made its debut in Indonesia recently at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show. Why? Because the car has also just been teased on MG Malaysia’s site meaning we can expect the coupe to land in showrooms here before too long. The Cyberster is available in a single all-wheel drive (AWD) model and costs 1,688,000,000 rupiah (about RM489k).

Standard exterior features on the MG Cyberster include LED headlights and taillights as well as a staggered 20-inch alloy wheel combination with the rear tires measuring 275/35/R20 and the front tires measuring 245/40/R20. A pair of red brake calipers and the surprising scissor doors are reminiscent of supercar styling.

A 544 horsepower and 725 Nm all-wheel drive (AWD) electric motor setup powers the MG Cyberster in Indonesia which enables the all-electric roadster to reach a top speed of 200 km/h and accelerate from 0-100 km/h in under 3.2 seconds.

The Cyberster is equipped with a 77 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that according to the NEDC standard, delivers range of up to 503 km. But in the real world, expect range of around 440km. Additionally, the Cyberster has 140 kW of maximum DC rapid charging capacity, which allows the battery to be charged from 10% to 80% in around 26 minutes.

The MG roadster comes fitted with a 10.25-inch and two 7-inch triple screen configuration, Nappa leather and Alcantara upholstery, and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility with an eight-speaker Bose sound system and a 64-color ambient lighting system.

Active safety features such a Driver Monitor System (DMS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Traffic Jam Assist (TJA), and Emergency Lane Keeping System (ELK) are included with the MG Cyberster in Indonesia. Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Rear Cross Traffic Braking (RCTB), Rear Collision Warning (RCW), and other safety features are offered here.

CARLIST THOUGHTS

MG might be owned by the Chinese now but the quality and design of their latest products are taking the car world by storm and winning awards. For an expected price of around RM489,000, and range of around 450km, the MG should arrive in showrooms offering something sporty and very different, and appealing to a wide cross-section of buyers.
