New Range Rover Evoque To Land In Malaysia Showrooms In January

Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia has revealed that the Range Rover Evoque facelift, which made its world premiere in June, will land in Malaysian showrooms in January 2024.

While the company calls it a “facelift,” the new 2024 Range Rover Evoque barely differs in appearance from the present model on sale in Malaysia. Not at first glance, at least.

The new Evoque has a revised grille up front with a new insert as part of the ‘facelift’ upgrade package. This update puts the car more in line stylistically with other Range Rover models, including the recently released Range Rover Sport. The new Pixel LED headlights, which have modified daytime running lights, are located on either side of the grille.

The second obvious modification is up the back end where the taillights now have an updated lighting signature and what the manufacturer refers to as “super-red” illumination, which uses integrated matrix technology to help other drivers see the brake lights and indicators more clearly.

The interior of the Evoque has undergone the most significant revisions. It gets a new 11.4-inch curved touchscreen display that “floats” in the centre of the dashboard in place of the previous infotainment system with two screens.

Sadly, physical controls have been sacrificed, meaning that touch controls have replaced the actual climate control knobs. On the plus side, a new wireless charging pad for smartphones has been added, and is situated beneath the touchscreen.

JLR did state that the new Evoque will continue to be powered by the brand’s petrol engines, but JLR Malaysia has not yet disclosed any information regarding powertrain specs. Currently available in Malaysia as the P200 and P250 versions, the Evoque is a model with a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four cylinder engine producing 200 hp and 320 Nm or 249 hp and 365 Nm respectively. An all-wheel-drive system and a nine-speed automatic gearbox are fitted to both models.

While the facelift is subtle, it adds an extra air of elegance and sportiness to the Evoque’s front end at the same time. And the new light signatures front and aft will also give the car some added presence on the road. Expect the new revised model to arrive with a starting price a little north of RM468,800.
