New Red Hot BMW iX M60 Launched In Malaysia

The BMW iX is already one of the most powerful and luxurious electric SUVs on the market. But just in case you’re craving even more performance and luxury, you’re in for a treat as the BMW iX M60 has just been launched in Malaysia at the Sepang International Circuit. With a price tag of RM630,800, on-the-road, without insurance, the SUV comes complete with the BMW Service and Repair package.

As you’d expect with a red-hot SUV of this calibre, BMW’s Laser Light headlights are a standard feature on the iX M60 while buyers can opt for 22-inch Individual M aerodynamic wheels finished in Titanium Bronze.

The performance all-electric SUV is also offered in two unique colours: Individual Storm Bay Metallic and Aventurine Red Metallic, in addition to seven other standard color variations.

At the heart of the iX M60 is a dual motor setup coupled to a single-speed automatic gearbox that’s combined with the firm’s fifth-generation eDrive all-wheel drive (AWD) technology delivering power to all four wheels. All tolled the system’s maximum output is 619 hp while torque hovers around a massive 1,015 Nm.

This powertrain allows the iX M60 to jump from 0 to 100 km/h in a supercar-like 3.8 seconds, and its electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h is 50 km/h more than that of its xDrive50 sister. To give drivers that extra level of driving thrills, renowned film score composer Hans Zimmer designed a bespoke sound, synthetically created, of course, called M IconicSounds Electric, to allow pilots to feel and hear the acceleration.

According to BMW,  the iX M60 has a range of up to 561 km (WLTP) thanks to a 105.2 kWh battery, but real-world figures would put range at more like 480km tops. The SUV can be charged at a maximum rate of 195 kW DC, which will take 35 minutes to top up from 0 to 80%. Additionally, the iX M60 is the company’s first vehicle in Malaysia to receive 22 kW of AC charging which takes 5.5 hours to fully charge.

Inside, imitation leather covers the central console and central armrest with the brand’s Live Cockpit Professional delivering a huge central touchscreen display and a curved 12.3-inch instrument display. Wireless phone charging, 4-zone automatic air conditioning, and a 30-speaker Bowers & Wilkins Sound System are offered in Malaysia for the first time. A full suite of safety features, including the company’s Driving Assistant Professional and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with braking function are included too.

Buyers will be offered an 8-year/160,000 km battery warranty, the manufacturer’s 5-year unlimited mileage warranty, the BMW Roadside Assistance and Accident Hotline, and the BMW Privileges Card.

OUR THOUGHTS

This is by far the hottest electric BMW to ever be offered in Malaysia. And with its prodigious 619hp, competitive real-world range of around 480km, and a solid price tag of RM630,800, it will serve those buyers looking for the most luxurious, highest-performance electric SUV on the market.
