New Toyota GR86 Gets Tweaked Suspension And Steering For Malaysia

Here in Malaysia, UMW Toyota Motor has unveiled a new update for the well-liked Toyota GR86 for 2024. The vehicle boasts a number of new features that are meant to improve its driving capabilities.

This animated Gr86 appears on the website.

The 2024 Toyota GR86 is still available for RM295,000 for the 6-speed manual (6MT) version and RM305,000 for the 6-speed automatic (6AT) version. The pricing of the completely imported car has not altered. Additionally, both of them have a standard five-year unlimited mileage warranty.

The 2024 Toyota GR86, which was first revealed to the public last month, has revised damper tuning for its suspensions for “better-handling response and road feel.” Additionally, a “more direct and engaging steering experience” is now possible for drivers thanks to a calibration of the electronic power steering system.

Toyota continues, saying that the 6MT variant’s throttle response has been “carefully tuned” for greater linearity on the updated 2024 model, while the 6AT variant’s gearbox has also been adjusted for earlier downshifts, resulting in higher RPM on corner exit, which helps with acceleration out and will also give drivers more control over the car’s balance.

Of course, the GR86 still comes with the same naturally aspirated 2.4-litre four-cylinder boxer engine (courtesy of Subaru) pumping out 237 ps and 250 Nm of torque, a powertrain that shoots the car from zero to 100 km/h in just over 6 seconds. It will also brake from 100 km/h to dead stopping 33 meters, which is a very competitive distance.

An additional benefit is that the 2024 GR86 comes with a two-channel (front and rear) full HD dashcam as standard, saving owners money and hassle with less wiring.

CARLIST THOUGHTS

Sure the GR86 might be low to the ground and a little difficult to get in and out of, but it’s still one of Toyota’s best-looking cars ever, and boasts that refreshed 2.4L boxer engine making it a snappy performer. And now with the revised suspension setup and steering, it will corner even better than before.
