New Zeekr X And 009 Land In Malaysian Showrooms From RM180,000

China’s Zeekr has just announced the official debut of its activities in Malaysia, and reservations for the Zeekr X and 009 are now open. The distributor in charge of sales, after-sales support, and spares, Sentinel Automotive Sdn Bhd, is the face of the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer here.

Zeekr X

Built on the same Sustainable Experience Architecture 2 (SEA2) platform as the Smart #1, Smart #3, and Volvo EX30, the Zeekr X is part of the Geely portfolio. It has a 2,750 mm wheelbase and dimensions of 4,450 mm by 1,836 mm by 1,572 mm. As a result, it is bigger than the Volvo EX30 and Smart #1 but smaller than the BYD Atto 3.

The Premium version, which comes in two specs, has a single rear motor that generates 268 horsepower and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. With two motors, the Flagship AWD model produces a potent 422 horsepower allowing it to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. Zeekr tells us that this Flagship model is the fastest in its class.

With a 66 kWh battery and 150 kW DC charging capability, both Zeekr X models can be charged from 10% to 80% in 30 minutes. The single-motor RWD variant can travel 540 km (ADR81/02 test cycle) according to Australian specification using the same battery pack, while the dual-motor AWD variant can cover 470 km (ADR81/02 test cycle).

The Zeekr X comes with a full suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and a wide range of passive integrated safety prevention systems as standard equipment on both versions. Its starting price is expected to be less than RM180,000.

The Zeekr 009 is a more practical option with its twin motors for all-wheel drive pumping out 603 horsepower and 693 Nm of torque. It can jump from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds.

The 009 is available in two specs—a Luxury 7-seater and the Ultra Luxury 6-seater. Both models are fitted with a 116 kWh battery boasting a WLTP range of 582 km, and 150 kW DC charging capable of achieving a 10% to 80% charge in just 30 minutes.

CARLIST THOUGHTS

These two Zeekr models will enter the market as very competitive EVs that take the fight right up to the current market leaders in Tesla and others. With their futuristic look, more than adequate range, a rather quick 603hp variant and loads of interior tech and luxury, not to mention an eye-opening price range, Zeekr should do well when they land in showrooms.
