Nissan Murano Named ‘Most Dependable’ Midsize SUV In JD Power Study

Nissan’s focus on vehicle reliability and customer satisfaction is once again recognized, as the Nissan Murano was named Most Dependable Midsize SUV in the JD Power 2026 U.S. Vehicle Dependability StudySM(VDS) for the second year in a row.

Now in its 37th year, the JD Power Vehicle Dependability Study surveys owners of 3-year-old vehicles across 184 potential problems areas spanning nine categories: infotainment; features, controls and displays; exterior; driving assistance; interior; powertrain; seats; driving experience; and climate.

The new Nissan Murano was launched in late 2024 and the 2026 Nissan Murano builds on its recent redesign with added convenience, capability and premium features.

The advanced ProPILOT Assist 2.1 system1 joins the lineup for 2026 as part of the Platinum Technology package, enabling attentive drivers to experience hands-off steering, acceleration and braking on compatible roads, along with Lane Change Assist for smoother passing.

The 2026 Murano provides additional peace of mind for drivers and their passengers with standard Nissan Safety Shield® 3602 and it was engineered with an exceptional focus on occupant safety, resulting in an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating.

The Murano lineup begins with the SV AWD at a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $41,6703.

CARLIST THOUGHTS

Nissan tells us that “ProPILOT Assist 2.1 cannot prevent collisions. It is the driver’s responsibility to be in control of the vehicle and monitor traffic conditions at all times. Hands-off freeway driving is possible when driving in a single lane, on the condition that the driver remains attentive on the road ahead and is prepared to immediately take manual control of the steering wheel when conditions of the road, traffic, and vehicle require it. System operates only when lane markings are detected. Nissan also says that this system does not function in all weather, traffic and road conditions, and that the system has limited control capability and the driver may need to steer, brake or accelerate at any time to maintain safety.
