Perodua And TM To Collaborate For EV Production

It has just been announced that Perodua and TM—Telekom Malaysia—have partnered with aims to advance the country’s carmaker’s electric vehicle (EV) development as it prepares to unveil its first fully electric model this year–the eMO-II Concept you see above.

The signing of the partnership between Perodua and TM will centre on the four strategic areas of hyperconnected network, advancing digital technology, enriching customer experience, and environment stability.

Most notably, the partnership will see the two companies work together to develop a number of consumer products, such as smart mapping solutions, autonomous driving technologies, and customised infotainment systems. These could all be crucial in helping Malaysians’ tastes and preferences be met by the upcoming Perodua EV.

Furthermore, TM wants to improve Perodua’s current infrastructure in terms of fixed and wireless connectivity, including private 5G for automotive applications, SD-WAN solutions, and smart manufacturing technologies for better vehicle production, through TM One, its enterprise and government sector solutions arm.

By using its cloud computing, cybersecurity, data analytics, and artificial intelligence skills to support initiatives for smart manufacturing, these technology solutions seek to improve the carmaker’s operational capabilities, expedite its data management, and facilitate its future growth.

According to TM Group Chief Executive Officer Amar Md. Deris, who provided details of the partnership, it demonstrates TM’s dedication to facilitating the digital transformation of the automotive sector, enhancing user experiences and long-term value, and assisting Perodua in its goal of greater innovation and expansion in the sector.

According to Perodua President and CEO Dato’ Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad, the partnership with TM demonstrates the automaker’s intention to modernise the automotive sector.

“This partnership encompasses a number of areas that will benefit our clients and have repercussions for the nation’s digital and automotive sectors,” he stated.

As a prelude to its first fully electric model, which is scheduled for introduction in 2025, Perodua has showcased the eMO-II concept at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2024. The production model will be locally produced and developed in Rawang, and will come with a 400 km range.
